Hathway Cable plans to invest Rs 1.75 bn in first phase of digitisation
As government had made digitisation mandatory, India’s leading companies have started investing into first phase of digitisation. One of the leading multi-system operator Hathway Cable & Datacom plan to invest Rs 1.75 billion in the first phase of digitisation even as it expects DTH to take away 10-15 per cent of its cable TV subscribers in the two lucrative markets of Delhi and Mumbai.

With cable operators dithering about switching to digital technologies because of the huge costs involved, a Government proposal for increasing the foreign direct investment in the sector from 49 to 74 per cent is expected to be expedited.
